Questions & Answers

When I tell people that I have written and published a book, they are often curious. For this, my first newsletter, I thought I would share some of these questions, and my responses, with you.

How long did it take you to write A Journey Home?
Three months – at least, for the bulk of the work, which I wrote in 2020. However, I first conceived of the idea for the book in 2015, and I had written a few chapters and song texts by the time I put my mind to it. The main effort may have been the editing and rewriting of the novel though over the course of the past four years, though.

The dust jacket and website are beautiful.
For this, I had a lot of help: The dust jacket and interior were designed by Canadian artist C’est Beau Design, and the website by Digital Authors Toolkit. And while we’re talking about support: My sincerest thanks go to my sisters and friends that helped me settle on the design of the interior and dust jacket as well as being first readers of the book, providing me with the necessary confidence for going ahead with the publication.

What is your writing process?
I am a rather structured writer, so I usually have a frame in mind when I’m working on a book. A Journey Home’s structure is based on a famous epic. Upon reading the book, you can probably guess which one. It is important for me, however, to not stick just to the frame or the formula in my mind but allow the writing to take me where it wants to flow.

Are you working on another novel?
Indeed, I am. In fact, I currently have ideas for five books within me. It is too early to share any specifics about these books but rest assured that I will do so in this newsletter first!

Is there going to be an audiobook of A Journey Home?
As an avid audiobook listener, it is my greatest hope that I will be able to present the world with an audiobook of A Journey Home. This is not a small feat, though, and the book must first sell a good number of copies before I can afford it.
